1. What is the difference between Exorvision monitors and regular monitors?
Per the National Electrical Code, the dental office is classified as a "Patient Care Area," and since liquid is present, it is also classified as a "Wet Location." The electrical code is stricter for these special conditions. Hygiene is also an OSHA concern in these areas. A regular PC monitor is designed for the office environment where the code requirements are less stringent. The ExorVision LCD monitor, on the other hand, has been designed specifically for the dental office where patient safety and operatory hygiene are central issues.

2. What is the advantage of a water-sealed front?
Liquid spill will likely ruin a regular monitor that can only be wiped off with a dry cloth. The Exorvision monitor is splash proof from the front and can be cleaned with disinfectants using a wet cloth.

3. Why do we need 12-volt power supply?
The monitors in the operatories are often times mounted on swing arms. Any 120-volt wiring to the monitor has to be installed in an electrical conduit with approved flexible joints. The conduit also has to function as an equipment grounding conductor in addition to the ground conductor. Additionally, in what is called the "Patient Vicinity" (where the patient may be in contact with electrical equipment), the Standard for Health Care sets strict standards for electrical safety. For less than 30 volts, the code is less stringent. Therefore, the 12-volt power supply enables a simpler wiring system which makes compliance with the code easier. The engineer responsible for office design should be familiar with the OSHA-adopted codes NEC517 and NFPA99.

4. Can this monitor be hooked up to any computer?
The monitor is a plug and play monitor that is compatible with IBM VGA and the Macintosh standard (with an adapter).

5. Can the monitor be used for video or intraoral cameras?
All ExorVision dental monitors have S-Video, RCA/composite video and sound, and output for headphones. The monitor has a 12-volt output power supply for connecting intraoral cameras. Therefore, no additional power cord is necessary for the camera.

6. Can the monitor be used as a TV?
A TV tuner with 125 channels can be ordered as an option.
